There are a multitude of skills within mathematics that need
to be fostered in order for an individual to be successful in the content
subject. Two areas that are important when building the foundation of mathematics
are automaticity and fluency. However, automaticity and fluency are not as
easily absorbed for some learners as they are for others. To aide in the
process of enhancing these two math strategies, there are different types of
technology applications that can be used. One application that can be referred
to is the FASTT Math, Fluency and Automaticity through Systematic Teaching with
Technology. FASTT Math is a program that identifies the individuals’ level of
mathematic performance. Proceeding to provide activities that strengthen the
learner’s memorization of math facts. This application allows instructors to
monitor a student’s growth, and academic achievement levels, while providing
fun, explanatory approaches to different math concepts.
I love the idea that the app would monitor and create the statistics for us. It is crazy that some of the information we used to work so hard to create are now given to us. I wish that i taught younger students sometimes just to try out some of these assistive technologies and applications.
